Two Lights

For this assignment, I wanted to transform my roommate Ashley into one of our favorite characters, Allison, from the television series, Pretty Little Liars on ABC Family. Pretty Little Liars is a show based on the book series by Sara Shepard. The story surrounds the disappearance and murder of a young girl named Allison. Here four best friends, Spencer, Emily, Aria and Hannah, start to receive mysterious messages from an unknown number signed -A. These messages contain secrets about the individuals and others close to these girls. These are secrets only Allison would know but they couldn't be coming from her. She's dead, or is she?

I incorporated the two personas of Allison and -A. Allison was a bright bubbly girl who was in the prime of her popularity and who wasn't one to be on her bad side. -A is a mysterious villain who is very good at manipulating situations.

I made Allison's photos bright and highlighted her best features. I purposefully made -A's photos dark and mysterious because that is exactly what -A is known for.

All in all, I am very happy with these photographs and the story they tell. Enjoy!

One Light

For this assignment, I had my roommate Nicole pose however she liked while I changed where I stood and where the light was in association with her. I am still getting used to studio lights so I kept my subject very simple and basically just focused on getting my exposures correct. I am pleased with how these photos turned out and I know my roommate will love them.

Hot Lights

For this first assignment I brought my roommate Ashley and told her that she could do whatever she wanted to do and I would just take photos. I decided to use both lights to create two shadows to match her movements. I shot her from different angles to just get an idea of what I was doing and what I liked. Then once both of us started to get more comfortable I decided to turn off one of the lights to create more drama. Then I moved her to a black background to show a different side. This assignment was my first time using hot lights and I went into the assignment with a very open mind because I didn't really have much of a vision but I'm very proud of the photographs that came out of my session with my roommate. Enjoy :)
